Upon her arrival at the rescue, Sweetpea was in dire need of medical attention. Her weight was alarmingly low, indicating she required immediate care.

Though her rescuers were uncertain about the best approach initially, they committed to providing support and discovering solutions for her situation. It became clear that she suffered from weakness and dehydration; consequently, subcutaneous fluids were administered to aid in her recovery.

Throughout the night, a plan emerged involving several small meals designed for easier consumption to help improve her condition gradually.

After a day and a half, there was an improvement as Sweetpea began eating her meals and gained some weight. This development indicated the potential for complete recovery if she continued on this path.

Each passing day brought remarkable progress, with her caretakers ensuring that she received regular feedings. She is working to build up enough strength to move around; still, it remains somewhat challenging for her, so she's taking gentle steps forward.

A few days later, caregivers observed that Sweetpea seemed excited during mealtimes and eagerly awaited someone to provide her food. By the time she reached four weeks of age, people remarked on how she had begun showing signs of personality and engaging in playful behavior.

Such changes clearly suggest a positive shift in her condition.

Making Progress, One Day at a Time

Before long, running became a part of Sweetpea's routine. She would joyfully dash in small circles around her shelter before taking breaks to rest.

It was quite endearing to watch. Gaining additional weight remained essential for her prior to conducting any blood tests or further assessments.

Once that stage concluded, rescuers promptly began investigating the underlying issues affecting her health. They discovered she had Hydrocephalus impacting both sides of her brain.

Treatment will definitely follow, but patience is required as it may take some time for recovery. For therapy, she spent time in an oxygen chamber and after just one day there, significant improvements were already evident in her condition.

Sweetpea has become quite lively lately, eagerly anticipating her next meal. Her tail now wags joyfully, a truly heartwarming sight.

After two months of dedicated care and remarkable improvement, she is thriving and even participated in an adoption event. During the gathering, staff members presented her with a delightful gift, a handmade bandanna designed just for her.

Such a thoughtful gesture is genuinely touching. Although finding this sweet girl a permanent home may still take some time, those who rescued her are enthusiastic about supporting her throughout this journey to full recovery.

In the meantime, she'll continue enjoying playful moments with other dogs while savoring delicious meals and cherishing the company of loving caregivers surrounding her each day.
