Pound Rescue Dog Still Thinks He’s Small

Despite Weighing 125 Pounds, This Rescue Dog Still Believes He’s a Small Pup

Lastest Updated February 13, 2025

Seeing your dog grow up so rapidly is probably the best testament to how fast time passes by.

One day, he’s just a small pupper learning how to “dog,” and the very next one, he’s a fully-grown canine!

Eliana, a woman from Orlando, Florida, witnessed this swift change with her own dog, Brandon.

Rescued at just a few weeks of age, Brandon grew up to be a 125-pound giant!

There’s one problem though – despite his massive size, Brandon still thinks he’s a small pup.

His adorable personality and playful demeanor reflect the inner puppy that never grew up, and he still wants to be carried around in his momma’s arms!

His gentle nature and sweet demeanor make him the perfect family dog, proving that love knows no size.

Brandon’s story highlights how rescue dogs, regardless of their size, bring immense joy and love into a home.

Before he found his loving family in Florida, Brandon was a neglected pup with a difficult start.

Eliana discovered him on a farm in poor condition, covered in dirt, infested with fleas, and missing part of his tail due to an injury.

"His fur was full of dirt and fleas, his belly was full but not from food, and I’ve never seen so many intestinal parasites before. He was hungry, and his tail was shorter because he was attacked and lost part of it," Eliana shared on Instagram.

Without hesitation, Eliana rescued him, bringing him into her home where he healed, grew stronger, and became the healthy, giant dog he is today.

Still a Puppy at Heart

Now, at 125 pounds, Brandon still doesn’t realize that he’s no longer a small puppy.

He insists on being held in Eliana’s arms, and his playful, puppy-like antics remain intact.

Despite his enormous size, Brandon still loves to jump from couch to couch, hide under desks, and curl up in his mom's lap, just like he did as a tiny pup.

“Brandon doesn’t know how big he is,” says Eliana with a smile.

When she first brought him home, Eliana never expected him to grow so large.

She thought he’d be the same size as her two Golden Retrievers, but Brandon quickly grew far beyond her expectations.

“He grew to be an extremely large dog.

I was expecting for him to be the size of my Goldens,” she explained to The Dodo.

Brandon’s clingy nature is a big part of his personality.

He’s never far from his mom’s side and always wants to be with her.

Eliana often has to get creative to manage her tasks while keeping him entertained.

Despite Brandon’s size, he’s the ultimate cuddle buddy and pack leader.

He fills the house with energy and always encourages the family to go on adventures, even when they’re not feeling up to it.

Brandon has become an irreplaceable part of Eliana’s family.

He’s her loyal companion, a sweetheart who has brought so much joy to her life.

And, no matter how big he grows, to Eliana, he’ll always be her small pupper.
