Heart-Wrenching Whines

A small dog was found trapped in a collapsed septic drain, with only its head above the surface.

Deputies James Gettings and Troy Glover were serving civil process paperwork nearby when they heard a faint whimpering sound that caught their attention.

Following the noise led them to an empty lot where the pup was stuck neck deep in distressing conditions.

Acting swiftly, they approached despite the dog's agitation and used a catch pole to pull him out safely.

St.

Lucie County Sheriff’s Office shared this heartwarming rescue on their Facebook page, highlighting how quickly help arrived for this vulnerable animal.

The dog was frightened and unsure.

Caregivers showed compassion and refused to abandon him.

After some thought, they decided that bathing him would help soothe his nerves.

Several baths later, he began to relax just a bit.

Quick Decision Made

Officer Gettings felt a strong connection with the dog he found, believing that adopting him was meant to be.

Despite searching the area for the dog's owner and not having much success, something inside him urged him not to take this pup to a shelter.

He named the dog Puddle after rescuing him from difficult circumstances.

After caring for Puddle's injured back legs, he brought this furry friend home.

Rachael, his wife, their little girl Evelyn, and their basset hound Lacie warmly welcomed Puddle into their family life.

A warm home awaits Puddle, filled with love and care.

Many happy years together lie ahead.

Let's enjoy every moment in this cozy space.
